Welcome to the Alamo Camp #1325 in San Antonio, Texas.
Our primary interests are learning about the War for Southern Independence and preserving Southern history and heritage. Our Camp hosts the reenactment of the surrender of Federal forces by General Twiggs to the Texas Militia in February 1861 at the Alamo in February. We participate in Confederate Decoration Day ceremonies annually. We march in the Flambeau Parade, attended by approximately 400,000 people, each year, as well as the Leon Valley Independence Day Parade. We present the Founder's Award to an outstanding cadet at the Texas Military Institute graduation and final review in May. We also present the General Robert E. Lee Leadership Award to deserving ROTC and JROTC cadets in several high schools and colleges. We are active in the care and maintenance of the Confederate Cemetery in San Antonio. We are always seeking additional activities and events to become involved in.
Many members are active in providing programs in local schools, historical reenactments, preservation initiatives, heritage defense activities, and educational opportunities. All are committed to "the defense of the Confederate soldier's good name." We have active partners in the Order of Confederate Rose, the Confederate Cemetery Association and the 6th Texas Reenactors. We also produce a monthly newsletter.
As you can see from the examples provided, we are engaged in many various events and activities. Ideally some are of interest to you. Tax free donations to support our activities should be made payable to Alamo Camp #1325 and mailed to 1423 N. San Jacinto Street, San Antonio, TX 78207.
You are invited to attend our Camp meeting to get acquainted and see if our Camp is what you are looking for. We need additional members to help us preserve the true history of the South and to honor our ancestors for their bravery and sacrifices. Individuals who may not be eligible for full membership may become "Friends of the Alamo Camp" upon recommendation of a member in good standing.
We meet on the second Thursday of the month at the Hungry Horse Restaurant, 12333 West Avenue in San Antonio. Meetings begin at 7PM but many of us gather earlier to eat and visit. Meetings consist of ceremony, Camp business, a speaker or program and a raffle. We end our meetings with a rousing rendition of "Dixie."
Please join us and bring a friend or relative!
